groupOn Friday, 2 October, just under 70 Grade 4-7 campers, and 15 leaders, descended on Camp Anerley campsite on the South Coast of KZN.  Every year Crossword Junior regional camp provides a weekend of good Bible teaching, and the kind of relationship building and fun unique to camping for children from churches all over KZN.

This year was no different.  With the theme of the Transformers to aid and illustrate, main camp speaker Nigel Richardson (Christ Church Umhlanga) taught the kids from Luke’s gospel about some of the people Jesus met, and how they were transformed by him.  Camp directors, Michelle Edgcumbe and Pam Jacobs, did the same from Mark’s gospel.

lunchThroughout the weekend the camp leaders worked hard to make use of the small group time to engage with their kids and point them to Jesus, reinforcing the message of the passages taught during the camp.  They report having excellent gospel conversations with their groups, which is very encouraging.

Another encouragement is that despite the great diversity in social, economic and cultural backgrounds of the campers and leaders, and the large number of churches they represented, there was a real spirit of unity and friendship amongst everyone. beach

Praise God for a great weekend of sunshine and fun, and most of all for Jesus, the ultimate transformer!
