The LORD HAS certainly been moving among the men of Emmanuel Port Elizabeth over the past few years. For no human reason, various men began to be moved to stand up for the Lord in a more visible way. Various study and accountability groups have formed as men sought to be more godly men, husbands and fathers in the Lord. The regular men’s breakfasts have become busy sessions with much ti me spent in hearing God’s word as well as sharing in response to it. Some wonderful and honest times of fellowship have followed. The Sunday services have also seen a notable change. Some men felt convicted to pray together at the services and for over a year a growing group of men have gathered together and prayed for the congregation after the service. Many visitors to the church have commented on how encouraging it has been to see men standing up for God and playing their part in His church.

Recently the Emmanuel Men’s group was invited to share at the annual Karoo Mighty Men’s conference. Our men’s group got to stand before about 15 000 men and Wayne Du Randt [in photo] shared how he came to know the Lord. He also emphasized the importance of local church discipleship and the need for men to be growing in the knowledge of God’s word. we praise the Lord for what He is doing among the men of the church and pray that it will grow and bear fruit in many churches and homes around our country.
