Synod 2024
It was a great delight to join together with so many brothers and sisters who joined us from across Southern Africa. REACH is truly reaching Africa for Jesus!
We are so grateful for the leadership of our Presiding Bishop, Siegfried Ngubane who chaired his first Synod gathering.
We had many points of discussion and debate but we delight in the consensus that was reached on important issues.
Synod 2023
It’s our delight to announce that The Rev. Dr. Siegfried Ngubane has been elected as the eighth Presiding Bishop of the Reformed Evangelical Anglican Church of South Africa.
We give thanks to God for raising up His man for this next chapter of our denomination’s history and we are humbled by the kindness of our Lord in bringing us to this historic moment.
Synod 2022
2022’s Synod was held in Somerset West, Cape Town. The Rev. Dr. Conrad Mbewe lead us through a series of talks around Gods Church. The focus of this Synod was on building Christ’s church in a changing world.

Synod 2021
This was REACH-SA’s first ever online Synod. By God’s grace there were more positives than negatives. Many significant motions were passed. The making of Women Deacon’s was approved. There were also motions passed relating to transformation goals, funding and structure. Rev. Dr. Conrad Mbewe was our guest speaker.

Synod 2020
Due to COVID19 related restrictions. No formal Synod was held this year. The Presiding Bishop did convene a special Executive meeting to discuss matters relating to historic racial inequalities and transformation. The strong focus of this year’s meetings related to ministering the gospel in a
context of a country in crisis.

Synod 2019
The strong focus of this Synod was on the Structure of REACH-SA and whether our historic federal system was best suited to growing gospel ministry in a country with such disparate economic and social realities. Issues relating to transformation, cross-community partnerships and regional initiatives were discussed. Our guest speaker was The Rev. Dr. Nathan Lovell from GWC.

Synod 2018
The Presiding Bishop challenged Synod to properly assess the health of our local churches with the key E.D.T. signs of ministry health. Evangelism, Discipleship, Training. He also expressed great concern over the growing economic, political and racial tensions. Our guest speaker was the Bishop of ACSA Port Elizabeth Diocese, Bethlehem Nopece.

Synod 2017
The challenge at this year’s Synod was to sharpen our strategy for outreach, partnership and growth. The Presiding Bishop also encouraged Synod to settle the question of Women Deacons. Our guest speaker was Bishop Andy Lines.

Synod 2016
The Presiding Bishop challenged Synod to embrace the #REACH500 campaign for 2017. This was in recognition of the 500 the anniversary of the Reformation and a timely call to revitalised outreach in our churches. Rev. Melvin Tinker was our guest speaker.

Synod 2015
Our new Presiding Bishop, Glenn Lyons, was elected with a 90%+ vote. This Synod also approved the licensing of recognized male and female Gospel Workers (formerly the Lay Reader’s licence).
