Our Denomination

REACH-SA is a fellowship of churches bound together by a common goal and mission

Our History

Our history goes all the way back to the 1700’s when the first English language services began in the Cape.  As the Anglican churches became more established, the arrival of the first Archbishop led to an increasing rift between the churches who followed his Anglo-Catholic practices and those who held to the Reformation foundations of the Anglican faith.  Eventually, after several regrettable legal challenges, the Church of England in South Africa continued as a separate denomination from the archbishop’s newly established Church of the Province of South Africa.  In 1938 the church was formally constituted as the Church of England in South Africa.  In 2013 the official operating name, Reformed Evangelical Anglican Church of South Africa (REACH-SA), was adopted. In God’s kindness our churches have grown from a handful of congregations to approximately 150 churches across South Africa today. There are also growing numbers of REACH churches in neighbouring countries.
